Welcome to Ms.Amy's Preschool. I am a licensed teacher located in Merced, California. I specialize in childcare for children ages 3 to 5 years old. My goal is to provide a fun, nurturing and safe learning environment for your child while encouraging social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.
Our space is designed to provide both a nurturing home atmosphere along with areas for the children to actively learn and play: giving them opportunities to explore, learn, and grow. Furthermore, we maintain a low teacher to child ratio. Therefore, your child will receive the kind of close attention he or she deserves, nurturing a foundation and helping to enable your child to reach their full potential.
I will be using Houghton Mifflin Alphafriends to help us learn the letters and sounds of the alphabet. The Merced City Schools use the Alphafriends also. Along with that our day will include music & movement, science, writing, math, art, and various monthly themes.
I meet all the requirements established by the State of California Community Care Licensing. I understand that you are trusting us to care for your child, and I take this responsibility very serious. I look forward to the opportunity to care for your child, while providing a positive influence in their lives.

All About Me
I have been teaching for 17 years, I started out at Merced College Child Development Center and then went on to teach Pre-K at St. Luke's School for 15 years. I also have taught Art to elementary students and various summer camps over the years. I am always attending various workshops and conferences to keep up with current ECE material. I love children and enjoy providing a safe and nurturing learning environment full of fun and love, that will instill a early love for learning. I like to use elements from several teaching philosophies, such as Montessori and Reggio along with all pre-academic skills. I have 3 children of my own. My baby just started her senior year in high school and turning 18 in September so this is a big year for us! In my off time I enjoy going to the beach, anything outdoors, ALL the Arts, and spending time with family and friends. References are available on request.
